Stacey, an outreach advocate on one of Laurel Hill Center's interdisciplinary rehabilitation teams, facilitates the Dual Diagnosis Anonymous support group in Pathways Learning Center.

Outreach counselors help individuals increase their independence by using their strengths, building skills and accessing resources. Services are individually tailored to address the needs of the whole person, and are usually offered in the community. Laurel Hill Center staff offer skills training, advocacy and support in the following areas:
- helping people find affordable housing
- learning and practicing cooking, cleaning and shopping skills
- developing routines for paying bills and managing finances
- getting involved with others in the community who have similar interests
- building and maintaining relationships with doctors and other community resources
- increased confidence in evaluating when to access emergency care or to contact on-call staff after hours or on weekends
