Keeping Hope Alive One Step At A Time....

Personal Care Assistants

Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) are available to assist people with mental illnesses who are currently enrolled in the Oregon Health Plan (OHP). PCAs can help individuals with their self-care and to accomplish tasks that some are not able to tackle such as housecleaning and grocery shopping. Currently, 70 people in Lane County receive help from 35 trained PCAs. Laurel Hill Center staff maintains a registry to match people with PCAs.

The program began with a two-year, start-up grant from the State of Oregon's Office of Addiction & Mental Health Division. LHC continues to coordinate the PCA program as an alternative to costly sub-acute care and to improve the quality of people's lives.
